In the era of the covid pandemic, theaters are dark and empty, actors at home, patrons unable to support plays. But a collaboration between the Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company and a University of Colorado Boulder research institute worked to change that. Their result was Science Shorts, four fictitious, 10-minute plays that were written and produced by a group of four scientists partnering with four playwrights from Colorado, followed by four short talks by the scientists who inspired their work.

Tiago is a physical oceanographer interested in exchanges between open ocean and continental shelf and ocean-ice shelves interactions. As a postdoc of TARSAN project, he will investigate heat fluxes into and out of the ice-shelf cavities and turbulent mixing rates using in situ measurements.

Michael Comas is a Master's student working with Dr. Julia Wellner at the University of Houston. Michael does research in Marine Geology. His work focuses on Pine Island Glacier proximal to Thwaites Glacier.

Hidden from view by ice kilometres thick, there is a vast network of lakes and streams under the Antarctic ice sheet. Using a decade of altimetry data from European Space Agency’s (ESA) CryoSat satellite, researchers at the University of Edinburgh, including a scientist with the PROPHET project of the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration (ITGC), have made an unexpected discovery about how lakes beneath Thwaites Glacier drain and recharge in quick succession.

Sarah worked as a programme administrator within the Science Coordination Office (SCO) to help with the organisation of meetings and any other administrative needs supporting the researchers involved in the ITGC. She departed the project in summer 2023.

Amanda Wynne provided digital communication support for the ITGC SCO and managed the ITGC social media channels on Facebook and Twitter till 2021.
