Report on IDEA Activities - 2021
Commitment was expressed in early project meetings for building a community that encompassed the IDEA goals; these found new energy through the 2020 formation of the IDEA Council (formerly known as JEDI). Annually the IDEA Council has compiled a report on the actions and progress made by the ITGC community around Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Access. The report serves as an opportunity to reflect on progress as well as to set goals for the coming year. Read More
ITGC Field and Ship Best Practices
ITGC's Field and Ship Best Practices document describes recommendations for best practices for field- and ship-based scientific campaigns in Antarctica, undertaken as part of the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration (ITGC). Its intended audience is all members of the ITGC’s field and ship teams, regardless of career-stage, role in the team, seniority, or previous experience. Read More
Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility Council
ITGC is committed to addressing issues of equity, diversity and inclusion within the ITGC program and beyond, into the broader cryospheric community. Although equity and diversity measures were not part of our programme's original scope, members of ITGC formed a committee of representatives from each of our nine projects and include a diversity of people in career stage, gender identity, and a mix among people from the UK, US and beyond. ITGC Supports Black Lives Matter
The International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration (ITGC) community supports the Black Lives Matter movement, recognizing that racism takes lives and breeds hate. We know that racism masquerades in many forms – including more subtle forms that keep Black, Indigenous, and People of Color out of the room and silence their voices, forms that stereotype people because of the color of their skin or deny them jobs because of their name. This is a problem rooted in centuries of injustice.

ITGC Community Norms and Values Statement
In fall 2019, researchers of the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration created a guiding document of values and norms for our community's behavior. This document outlines our desires for respect, creating an inclusive environment, acknowledging the value of diversity in science, ethical standards on scientific conduct, and an environment without harassment, bullying, or alienation.
